Mr. & Mrs. Eugene Bower reported that they always read the Creston news and that lots of the items and places mentioned have special meaning for them. They have been married 57 years now.

Butch Goodnight who lived for a time at Creston had his picture on a popular state web site. Seems he ran over Judy with his chariot while she was trying to flee.

Donna Sue Ferrell, Nancy Engelke and Rosalie Enoch were shopping for Secret Santa one day last week. Nancy was also consulting with her orthopaedic surgeon.

Rev. Juanita Lockhart filled her regular appointment at the Burning Springs M. E. church. The church Christmas play is scheduled for Friday December 23. All are welcome for an inspiring evening.

Mary Fury, age 75 of Mineral Wells, passed away. She was a daughter of the late Blanch dePue Hiehle.

Donna, Amy & Carl Ferrell were checking out an Elizabeth yard sale on Saturday.

The folks down at the Mouth of the Elk have been showing that they are just ordinary folks, having Christmas parties, attending anti-abortion meetings and such and wishing folks "Merry Christmas" not Happy Holidays. However, the buzz is that the Big Boss down at the Mouth of the Elk would love to be Madame Hillary's VP in '08. To run on the national ticket he will have to be PC and avoid Christianity and be pro-abortion as many on the left almost regard abortion as a "sacrament" as the abortion parlours that sell body parts, etc and give lots of political cash call the shots. It should be interesting to watch although most feel that the Big Boss is in the running only in his wildest imagination. Such used to be called visions of grandeur. Little Johnny D. Rockefeller IV formerly had similar "visions".

Dan Trembly has been doing some surveying for Ellen Hedge on Bear Fork.

Mike McKee of Ohio Oil Gathering, the outfit that took over after the Rockefeller family had no further use for Eureka Pipe Line Co. announced that Ohio Oil Gathering will accept no new wells that that are not set up to be hauled with tankers and the minimum load would be 150 bbl at a single connection. Also the site must be such that an 18-wheeler can get in and out, etc. Effective January 1 the price paid for oil will be as follows for loads of 150 bbl or more (West Texas Intermediate (WTI) less $1 for Wirt, Wood & Ritchie and WTI less $1.50 for Calhoun, Clay, Gilmer, Jackson & Roane. For loads less than 150 bbl the price for Wirt, Wood & Ritchie will be WTI less $2.50 while for Calhoun, Clay, Gilmer, Jackson & Roane it will be WTI less $3.00. It just could be that oil hauling is just about to become much more difficult or that there is a real great business opportunity there for the person with a solution such as a local refinery or some such. McKee also indicated that they planned to improve their pipeline system which includes the old Eureka station at Brooksville.

The price of local Pennsylvania grade crude oil fell $1.25 to $55.50/bbl. Equitable Gas Company sold some of their October gas production for $15.78/MCF while other gas trades at prices negotiated over a century ago when America was on the gold standard.

L. D. "Windy" Cooper was attending to business in Grantsville.

Anna Engelke & the FunChester group had their Christmas party at Fredericksburg Virginia and they went skiing at Wisp in Maryland. Anna was also Christmas shopping in Winchester.

The local area has been on the receiving end of snow flurries and other routine winter weather. Those who appear to know indicate this will be a cold winter. One fellow joked he would miss all the hot air from the "global warming" crowd.

Joe Ferrell was among those calling on Dorine Parsons.

The Wirt County Farm Bureau will meet Tuesday, December 20 at 7 P. M. at the road garage in Elizabeth. It was mentioned that there might be dessert. Last time Katherine's special hickory nut treat won the approval of all.
