Sheriff Carl Ballengee begins to assist search with his partner Kahn
It was a good ending to a missing person alert last night in Grantsville, considering temperatures dropped below 20 degrees.
Just as Calhoun Sheriff Carl Ballengee was ready to commence a search using his partner Kahn, a car pulled up, the passenger inquiring what the fuss was about.
Sheriff Ballengee told the man that a search was on for 47-year-old Ricky Meyer (pictured left), that his mother was really worried about him.
The man identified himself as the "missing person."
Grantsville Police Chief Ron Gordon, Trooper 1st Class Jeff Hunt and Sheriff Ballengee participated in the effort, along with firemen from Grantsville and Arnoldsburg.
Dozens of men scoured the hilly areas adjacent to South Grantsville, commencing about 7 p.m.
Meyer returned home about 9 p.m.
He reportedly left his house about 1 p.m., going into the woods with a chainsaw, according to his mother.
After about seven hours, she was worried, and called the Grantsville Police Department.
