Jenkins announces candidacy to Commissioner McCallister
Tried and true politician Perry Jenkins officially announced his candidacy for Calhoun Commission during last night's football game at Mt. Zion.
Jenkins made the announcement close and personal to current county commissioner Larry McCallister, who could be a candidate for the post.
McCallister said it was a little early for him to think about the election, but said he would welcome Jenkins to the ticket.
Jenkins said if "Byrd can make an early announcement, it would only be right I can too."
Jenkins ran for magistrate during the last election cycle, being defeated.
Fortunately the Herald was there to capture the Jenkins announcement.
Jenkins made another announcement at a CM-HS ballgame regarding his political ambitions.
Jenkins had pre-announced as a candidate for Governor of West Virginia, but later withdrew from the race. He met up with now governor Joe Manchin to advise him of his ambitions during half-time, and Manchin welcomed him aboard.
