Family members said it was "Dad's dream"

It was a time to remember Lee "Ox" Johnson before the football game at Calhoun Middle-High School last night.

It was a time for Johnson's family to remember his dream, the construction of the Wayne Underwood Museum on the school's Mt. Zion campus.

His family presented a check for $10,000 to the remaining "Amigos" to move the project forward.

Ox's wife, Dawn, could not be present for the ceremony because she is recovering from a heart attack, but his family members performed the task, with his beloved granddaughter.

Johnson (pictured left) was a graduate of the Class of 1955, and along with his cohorts, had developed plans for the structure. The earlier fund raising netted $16,000.

Former CHS principal Roger Propst said more donations are needed to push the project toward reality.

Wright said "If you feel passionate about creating a memorial that will instill pride in our youth and in creating a means to help raise money for CM-HS athletic programs, please send your tax deductible gifts now."
