The Calhoun Middle School Football team traveled to Walton Middle School on Saturday evening, August 27, and participated in a Grid-O-Rama with teams from Spencer Middle and Clay Middle Schools.
Walton Middle was also to have participated, but had to drop football this year due to insufficient numbers of players.
Each team scrimmaged the other two teams for two 10 minute periods with the 2nd team players being required to play the second period of each scrimmage.
Calhoun had little trouble with Clay Middle in its 1st scrimmage, beating the Clay County team 18-0, scoring on its first three possessions.
In its 2nd scrimmage against Spencer, the Red Devils lost by an 8-6 score with each team scoring a touchdown, but Spencer was able to punch in the extra points with Calhoun coming up short on its attempt.
The Red Devils open their season on Thursday, September 1st, at Red Devil Stadium at Mt. Zion against Doddridge County Middle at 6 p.m. Please plan to attend and cheer for this young band of Red Devils.
