FEDS SENTENCE DAVIS TO 70 MONTHS - Busted For Cocaine At Creston

(08/27/2005)
A former Roane County man, Russell Davis, 46 (pictured left), has been sentenced to 70 months in federal prison on cocaine charges.

Davis was arrested at Creston in August, 2004 after police raided his home. He was originally charged with possession of cocaine and marijuana with intent to deliver and two counts of conspiracy.

US District Judge Thomas Goodwin sentenced Davis, which also includes four years of supervised release following his prison term.

At the time of the raid officials reportedly found large quantities of powder cocaine, crack cocaine and marijuana in Davis' mobile home.

Davis was renting the property a short distance west of Creston along State Route 5. State Police said they found a stolen gun in the trailer among several weapons.

Police indicated the arrests are linked to drug trafficking in the region.

Davis gave testimony in the Judd Reid murder case in Roane County, because he was dating Reid's daughter at the time.

Davis testified in the case in which Tariff resident Tattoo Vince Golosow was found guilty and sent to prison.

Richard Cummings and his girlfriend Sandra Khalaf, known for the shoot-outs on Murder Mountain in Clay County, were also key witnesses in the murder case.

Two other men, Robert Henderson and John Whiteside, both from Michigan, were arrested after authorities say they delivered drugs to Davis' trailer.

A female identified as Barbara McCaffrey, 20, of South Point, Ohio was charged with possession of less than 15 grams following the raid.
