Last weekend, thousands gathered at Snowshoe Mountain, WV for the NORBA National Mountain Bike Series races; WV riders took 6 podium spots in the cross country racing.
First place finishers were Gunnar Shogren (Morgantown), racing Expert Master 40-44, Betsey Schauer (Morgantown), racing Women's Expert 25-29, and Cai Clothier (Millstone), racing 13- 14. First place finishers each received a "Class Champion" sweatshirt.
Second place finishers were JJ Ford (Buckhannon), racing under 16 sport, Lori Ware (Clay), racing under 18 sport, Steve Thaxton (Sissonville), racing expert 40-44.
Other WV riders included Sue Haywood (Davis), finishing 6th in the Women's Pro class, Joe Stone (Dunbar), finishing 14th in the Semi-Pro Class, Joey Riddle (Elkins), finishing 22nd in the Semi-Pro class, Kristi Mantz (Marlington), finishing 21st in the Women's Pro class, Nick Waite (Davis - member of the US National Under 23 Team), finishing 10th in the Pro Class, and Dowain Ford (Buckhannon), finishing 6th in the Expert 40-44 class.
