| The school board voted to hire Jackie Shimer as the new principal of Pleasant Hill Elementary School, at Monday evening's meeting.
Dr. Richard Hartnett, West Virginia University, and Dr. Jerry Jones and Dr. Powell Toth, Marshall University, presented Superintendent Ron Blankenship with a plaque in recognition of his selection as West Virginia Superintendent of the Year.
Citizens who spoke to the board concerning the hiring of Arnoldsburg principal Dr. Gene Rizzo, included Brenda Holcomb, Sharon Rogers, Sandy McCumbers, Kyle Lancaster and Wavelene McCoy.
Gaylen Duskey addressed the Board regarding the sport of Cross Country, which was continued.
Kelley Houchin spoke to the Board concerning the Valedictorian/Salutatorian Policy, which was not rescinded.
Board member Don Harris reported on the July 26, 2006 CGCC meeting.
Greg Cartwright reported on the 2004-2005 WESTEST results, saying they indicate postive accomplishments for Calhoun schools.
The Testing Out Policy remains in force as currently written.
Board members Rick Fitzwater moved and Joy Starcher seconded that the Instruction Policy be repealed and the motion carried unanimously.
Melinda Fitzwater was employed as cross country coach.

- Early Release requests approved: Adrienne Brown and Katie Walker.
Mr. Fitzwater moved and Mrs. Starcher seconded that the Board enter into executive session at 8:00 p.m. for discussion of personnel, likely issues related to the hiring of Dr. Gene Rizzo as Arnoldsburg principal.
When they board returned into regular session, there was no action on the personnel matter.
