EMERGENCY SERVICES STRETCHED WITH ACCIDENTS AND FIRE

A vortex of problems passed over the county starting at 6 p.m. today, with three auto accidents, a hit and run and a fire, keeping emergency services busy until late Saturday night.

A hit and run involving vehicles was reported on Nicut shortly after 6 p.m. with Cpl. Doug Starcher investigating.

A two car collision on Rt. 5 between Grantsville and Cabot Station at 6:45 p.m. sent one woman to Minnie Hamilton Health Care Center.

The driver of a van involved in the accident was identified as Amber Boak. A report on her condition was not available.

911 dispatcher Fred Waybright, the driver of the other vehicle, received some injuries to his head, and was taken to the hospital in a private vehicle.

Both vehicles appeared to be totaled.

Calhoun EMS, Minnie Hamilton Health Care's ambulance, Cpl. Doug Starcher and the Grantsville VFD responded to the scene.

Perkins watches as his tractor goes up in flames

The Grantsville VFD responded to a tractor fire off Sycamore Road at 7:09 p.m. A pumper truck managed to climb a steep hillside to discover a tractor belonging to Larry Perkins on fire near a large oil tank.

The New Holland tractor was a total loss, but Perkins and the fire department prevented the oil tank from igniting.

Emergency services responds to roll-over south of Arnoldsburg

A Jeep went out of control and rolled-over on Rt. 16 a short distance south of Arnoldsburg at 7:30 p.m., reportedly sending a woman and female child to Minnie Hamilton Health Care Center.

Calhoun EMS, the Arnoldsburg VFD and Cpl. Doug Starcher responded to the incident.

Shortly before 10 p.m. there was another single-vehicle wreck on Rt. 16 just north of the Crummies Creek intersection.

Calhoun EMS, Arnoldsburg VFD and Cpl. Doug Starcher responded. No one was taken to the hospital.
