| Roy Preston Helmic, Jr., of Arnoldsburg, West Virginia, died Saturday, August 6, 2005 at Roane General Hospital, Spencer.
He was born August 12, 1922 in Roane County, son of the late Preston and Mary King Helmic.
He was a WWII Veteran having spent 3 years in the US Navy Coast Guard. He enjoyed attending all the social events at the Calhoun County Committee on Aging until his declining health prevented him from doing so.
He is survived by a stepson, John Norman (Freda) of Orma; son, Jim Helmick (Dawn) of Millstone; daughter, Janet Marks (Jack) of Arnoldsburg; grandson, Alex Marks of Arnoldsburg; granddaughters, Erin Helmick of Lakeland, Florida, Ava Helmick, Hannah Burris and Crystal Marks of Millstone.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ona Norman Helmick; step grandson, John Dwayne Norman; brothers, Darrell Spencer and Albert Helmic; sister, Verna Starcher; stepmother, Orpha Tucker Helmic.
Services will be held 1 p.m. Monday, August 8 at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg with Rev. Carroll McCauley officiating. Burial will be in the Norman Cemetery at Beech. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services.
