The Budget Digest has come through.

Listed with the Digest for Calhoun County is a big-ticket item, a new State Police barracks, a project supported by Del. Bill Stemple and reportedly scheduled to be built near the entrance to Calhoun Middle-High School.

Other items totaling $118,000 have been directed to Calhoun projects, although Del. Stemple has not released an official list.

Calhoun EMS $5,000; 911 $10,000; Calhoun Committee on Aging $25,000; Calhoun Historical Society $5,000, Calhoun Public Library $14,000; Calhoun County Clerk $10,000; Calhoun schools $39,000; Calhoun-Gilmer Career Center $10,000.

Absent was support to county festivals and fairs, or to county fire departments.

Calhoun EMS has been lobbying Charleston for replacement funds for two ambulances that are worn-out.

Roane County received $158,000, described as "a shrinking amount." That county received between $328,000 and $400,000 in previous years.
