Calhoun's own Robert Bonar was given The 2005 Governor's Service Award from Joe Manchin III. Bonar, a longtime Lions Club member and Grantsville volunteer and civic leader, was given the award as "a commendation for volunteer service to the State of West Virginia for outstanding commitment to volunteerism and exceptional contribution toward making West Virginia a better place."
