The following is the unofficial minutes from the Calhoun County Board of Education meeting held on June 4th
MEMBERS PRESENT: Juanita Berdine, Ralph Cunningham, Richard Fitzwater, Carlene Frederick and Burl Simers
Ronald Blankenship, Secretary
ABSENT: None
The meeting was called to order by President, Richard Fitzwater at 7:00 p.m.
MINUTES:
Mrs. Frederick moved and Mr. Simers seconded that the minutes of the May 7, 2001 meeting be approved as amended.
Motion carried unanimously.
DELEGATIONS:
A retirement plaque was presented to Jack Downs by Superintendent Ronald Blankenship.
Brian Evans addressed the Board regarding use of lights at the old baseball field with permission being granted.
Kelley Houchin, CCACC, requested use of the Wayne Underwood field for home football games this fall. The Board took
the matter under advisement.
Kathy Nichols addressed the Board regarding one day a month planning for elementary schools. No action taken.
REPORTS:
Mrs. Frederick reported on the May 10, 2001 RESA board meeting.
Mr. Cunningham reported on the May 22, 2001 Calhoun-Gilmer Career Center Administrative Council meeting.
Mr. Blankenship reported on the elementary schools' school calendar request and the Reading and Writing Institute
Grant.
Donnie Pitts reported on the athletic complex/bus garage.
