He was born in Calhoun County, W.Va., and was the son of the late Luther and Luranie Schoolcraft Prine. He was a member of the Limestone United Methodist Church. He loved the ministry and was a United Methodist minister for more than 50 years. He loved his family and loved farming.
He is survived by his five daughters, Juanita Garrett and her husband, Vernon, of Ravenswood, Dorothy Gorrell and her husband, Max, of Sandyville, W.Va., Grace Smith and her husband, Vernon, of Washington, W.Va., Ruth Snyder and her husband, Don, of Mineral Wells and Patricia Pugh and her husband, Ralph, of Washington; 16 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Elma Hall of Vincent, Ohio, and Liddie Ryan of Rockport, W.Va.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lula Gerald Perkins Prine in January of 1994; two infant sons; five brothers; and two sisters.
Services will be 1 p.m. Friday at the Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with the Rev. Frank Miller officiating. Burial will follow in the Limestone Cemetery. Friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
