ELKVIEW MAN TURNS NASTY - An Elkview man was arrested this week on an attempted murder charge and two counts of wanton endangerment after he allegedly fired a handgun at three people with whom he had just been swimming.
Paul Edward Young, 47, of Elkview, has been charged.
One of the "victims" ran outside and locked herself in his car. Young allegedly ran outside with the pistol and started beating on the passenger side window telling her to get out.
The police report said that person said "What are you going to do? Shoot me? Go ahead."
Young then allegedly raised the pistol and pulled the trigger.
As he raised the pistol, the woman moved her hand to deflect the gun. As that shot was fired, she got a small laceration on her head.
Young then allegedly turned and shot at others from his swimming party.
Young got in his car and left, but was arrested during a traffic stop at Dry Branch about two miles from the incident, according to the complaint.
Young was being transferred to South Central Regional Jail on $50,000 cash only bond.
