Calhoun County workers averaged $25,409, ranking 38 in the 55 counties. Most Calhoun residents earned their living out-of-county.
A synopsis of wages shows federal government health services paid the highest average annual wage among the states major industry sectors with an average of $65,598 followed by utilities with an average of $62,823.
Mining is third highest at $54,505. Management services at $49,994 and manufacturing at $42,775 complete the top five highest-paying sectors.
Boone County continues to earn the highest average annual wage at $40,560 followed by Pleasants at $39,319.
Tucker County had the lowest average annual wage of $20,627 followed by Wirt at $20,929.
Still, West Virginia ranks near the bottom in USA with income.
