This year's festival had lots of talented performers
The 43rd Annual Wood Festival has come and gone, it was a great success.
The festival has had its ups and downs over the years, but these past two years, with the hard work of dedicated volunteers, it has been full of new life.
This year's events had excellent attendance, from the new ATV and Truck Mud Bogs to entertainment on the main stage in Grantsville to the country music performances at the county park.
The muddin' events drew huge, huge numbers, but also noticeable the folks who came out every night in front of the courthouse to enjoy the free performances, everything from gospel music to country and rock 'n roll.
Heartwood, a Calhoun treasure, delivers annual street performance
The Grand Parade was indeed grand, lots of participation and a large crowd, including the traditional, high-energy street performance of Heartwood in the Hills, one of Calhoun's treasures.
The return of a re-vitalized Kid's Day on Saturday was a welcome event, enjoyed immensely by the young folks.
The crafters and food booths said they did well.
And the festival, after several years, put on a fireworks display from high atop Pine Creek Hill, overlooking Grantsville.
We're hopeful local residents, and out of area residents, let festival committee members know how much they appreciate their efforts on behalf of the community.
A scrapbook or two of festival highlights and the grand parade will follow.
