The Herald has often written about the national health care crisis, which refuses to become a national issue, with government, insurance companies, drug companies and providers failing to address the problem.
The issue has not been on the national burner since Hilary Clinton brought it up shortly after her husband was elected president.
Gregory K. Smith, the head of WVs Blue Cross-Blue Shield said in a talk this month that family coverage (BC/BS) will be over $16,000 annually by 2007.

Smith said the private health-care system is in critical condition, and unless something is done, it will not survive.
