A joint funeral service will be held Monday for a young Clay County couple, victims of a murder-suicide.
Services are scheduled for 1 p.m. in the Pennington Funeral Home Chapel in Gauley Bridge with the Rev. Charles Blankenship and the Rev. Gary Rogers officiating. Burial will be in Montgomery Memorial Park at London.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday evening.
State Police have not released details that led to the tragedy. They say twenty-six-year-old Tracy Burford reportedly shot and killed twenty-five-year-old Tara Taylor.
Burford is said to have used an automatic pistol then turned the gun on himself inside his mobile home.
The shootings happened in the community of Bickmore.
A State Police press release says both were shot in the head. The gun was found at Burford's feet.
They leave behind two young daughters.
Tracy Allen Burford, 27, of Fola, Clay County, W.Va., died Thursday, May 12, 2005, at home.
Born Feb. 16, 1978, in Charleston, he was a graduate of Gauley Bridge High School, and an employee of Fola Coal at Fola, W.Va.
Surviving are his daughters, Taylor Mackenzie Burford, and Brooklyn Paige Burford of Fola, W.Va.; his parents, Rodney A. and Debbie A. Thurman Burford of Gauley Bridge, W.Va.; maternal grandmother, Hazel Harley of Missoula, Mt.; paternal grandmother, Doris Burford of Gauley Bridge, W.Va.; and brother, Jason Burford of Gauley Bridge, W.Va.
Tara Brooke Taylor, 25, of Fola, Clay County, W.Va., died Thursday, May 12, 2005, at home.
Born Sept. 19, 1979, in Charleston, she was a homemaker.
Survivors include daughters, Taylor Mackenzie Burford, and Brooklyn Paige Burford of Fola, W.Va.; parents, Timothy and Pamela Ramsey Taylor of Fola, W.Va.; sister, Misty Winebrenner and husband, Shane, and daughter, Maddie, of Oak Hill, W.Va.; and paternal grandparents, Elmer "Buck" Taylor of Bickmore, W.Va., and Bonnie Page Taylor of Hartland, W.Va.
