The long tradition of the greater Arnoldsburg community giving a helping hand continued this past weekend.

The "Friends of Jen" benefit raised almost $10,000 at the Arnoldsburg Community Building last Saturday.

All the proceeds will help Arnoldsburg resident Jennifer Hall (pictured right) with expenses incurred during cancer treatment.

Jennifer, the wife of Larry Hall, has volunteered many hours to the Arnoldsburg community, and is well known for her work at the barbecue pit during the annual Molasses Festival.

Before she experienced the bout with cancer, she helped with Relay for Life.

"It has always been a community effort," said Janet Marks. "Whether it is someone in need or the local fire department."

Rick Falls and The Bearfork Band, Buck McCumbers and several other musicians provided music throughout the afternoon.

The fundraiser included a giant rummage sale, topped by Basket Bingo.

Attending Saturday's event was a beautiful, bright and energetic child - Jordan Falls (pictured left). Jordan, who is over two years old, was given a helping hand by the Arnoldsburg community in 2003 when he needed a liver transplant shortly after his birth.

The community came out in droves.

Young Jordan, the son of Jeremy Falls and Lisa Atkinson, will hopefully keep the Arnoldsburg community spirit going.
