Wesley Harold Webb, 85, of Spencer, West Virginia, died Saturday, April 30, 2005, at his home.

He was born Friday, February 13, 1920 at Clover, a son of the late John Wesley and Fannie Keffer Webb. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred "Mick" Ingram Webb, whom he married June 25, 1941; two sisters, Orvie Miller and Edith Griffith; one brother, Orlis "Peck" Webb.

Harold retired from the Charleston Daily Mail, after working for them from 1940-1969. He also owned and operated Webb's License-Title and Freight Service from 1950-1980.

He was a member, Treasurer and Past Master of Moriah Lodge No. 38, A.F. & A.M., Spencer, Past District Deputy Grand Master of the Fourth Masonic District of the M.W. Grand Lodge A.F. & A.M. of West Virginia and Representative of the Grand Lodge of Georgia near the Grand Lodge of West Virginia; Jackson No. 48, Grand Chapter of West Virginia, R.A.M., Ravenswood; Dowell Commandery No. 28 Knight's Templar, Ravenswood; Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, Charleston; Nemesis Temple, A.A.O.N.M.S., Parkersburg.

He served six years on Spencer City Council, was a former member and Captain of the Spencer Volunteer Fire Department and was a Special Reserve Policeman for the City of Spencer. He attended the First Baptist Church of Spencer and was an Army veteran of World War II, serving from August 1, 1942 thru December 4, 1945.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Terre and "Biff" Matthews of Newark, OH; a son and daughter-in-law, Charles and "Mimi" Webb of Spencer; a sister, Hester Starcher of Spencer; grandchildren, Ryan and Teisha Webb of Columbus, OH, Misti and Patrick Campbell of London, OH, Lane and Marcie Gandee of Columbus, OH, Farrah Davis of Spencer and Stephanie Matthews of Columbus, OH; great grandchildren, Morgan, Olivia and Lauren Campbell of London, OH, Paige Matthews of Columbus, OH; numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted Saturday, May 7 at 1:00 p.m. in the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with the Rev. Leon Strickland and Mr. Bill Walton officiating. Burial with military and Masonic graveside rites will be in the Eventide Cemetery, Spencer.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Friday and 9 a.m.-1 p.m. on Saturday.
