Within a few rock throws in the hollers near Orma, three traditional, old-time
musicians were among the winners at the 25th Annual Vandalia Gathering last
weekend in Charleston. It speaks well for Calhoun musicians. Even master fiddle
player Lester McCumbers was on the program.
Eugene Parsons of Orma won $250, 2nd place in the Senior Old-Time Banjo category.
Jake Krack of Orma won $250, 2nd place in the under 60 fiddlers category.
Dorse Sears of Orma won $75, placing 4th in the open mandolin category.
