Congressman Alan Mollohan, D-W.Va., was on the campus of
Glenville State College on Tuesday for the ribbon-cutting ceremony
of the National Corrections and Law Enforcement Training and Technology
Center (NCLETTC) annex located at the college.
"We can take a lot of pride in how Glenville State College and NCLETTC have
collaborated to get this annex up and running," stated Mollohan. "If the
past is any guide - and there's reason to believe it is - then I'm confident
that we are witnessing the start of a long, mutually beneficial relationship
between these two organizations."
The NCLETTC annex at GSC includes classrooms, computer labs, a fingerprint
lab and a firearms simulator, as well as dormitory space for students and
instructors.
The annex allows NCLETTC to expand their training for
corrections, law enforcement and public safety organizations into central
and southern regions of West Virginia, as well as surrounding states. It
also provides an excellent training facility for the students in GSC's
Criminal Justice program.
"The annex is an excellent example of how we can be proactive in leveraging
the resources that exist in our state and region," stated Mollohan.
"GSC and
NCLETTC are partnering in a way that will enable both of them to grow and to
better meet the needs of the people they serve. The result will be a
stronger college and enhanced training for law enforcement officers in West
Virginia and surrounding states."
In addition to the Congressman, the crowd attending the ribbon-cutting also
heard from GSC President Robert N. Freeman; Steve Morrison, Vice President
of NCLETTC/West Virginia High Tech Consortium Foundation; and James L.
Estep, President and Chief Executive Officer of the West Virginia High Tech
Consortium Foundation.
