STATE POLICE SHOOT MAN - A Martinsburg woman being attacked by her estranged husband with a knife, alerted authorities who rushed to her home. State Police fatally shot the man yesterday.
51-year-old Michael B. Yurish of Martinsburg broke into the home of Joy Yurish, obtained a large knife and told her that she was going to die.
The woman used a special device issued to her by the Shenandoah Women's Center of Martinsburg to contact the Berkeley County 911 center, which alerted State Police at 2:48 a.m.
Troopers who entered the home saw Yurish with the knife moving toward his estranged wife and shot him.
State Police say Michael Yurish had been out on bond from a previous charge of attempted murder against her.
ST. ALBANS MAN STABBED - Kanawha County deputies were investigating how a man got stabbed north of St. Albans about 11:15 p.m. Monday night.
The victim was taken to Putnam General Hospital, but was not being cooperative with deputies. |
