The Calhoun County Commission will discuss issues related to the budget crisis, review cash flow, review benefits and discuss the transfer of the Minnora School property.
The commission will discuss the disapproval of Minnora Community Center volunteers against the sale of the Minnora School property to the Calhoun County Committee on Aging.
The commission has been moving toward selling the property to relieve the county of a financial burden and to generate cash to fill a gap between now and the end of the fiscal year.
The Minnora Community Center ended their 99-year-lease on the property, giving it back to the county about a year ago because they could not meet liability insurance payments.
Commissioners have taken the position that the ownership of the property by the Calhoun County Committee on Aging would best serve the community.
Minnora Center President Kenny Bailey has claimed the center was not adequately notified about the proposal, but commissioner Rick Sampson said he called Bailey the same day the issue came up in a commission meeting.
Bailey has requested a 90-day stay with a decision to sell the property, the commission is declining the request.
CCCOA Director Mike Ritchie said he had a lengthy meeting with Bailey and his wife to discuss how the sale could benefit the community.
The commission said "We are sorry if this situation creates a problem... but we feel we are making the right decision. The sale of the building and property to the CCCOA will be a benefit to your community in many respects," stating a sale of the property will move forward.
The CCCOA is already building a new West Fork Center on part of the property.
Tim Meeks will process issues related to the Yellow Creek water line. Commission items include grants related to the walking trail at Wayne Underwood Field, a courthouse security grant, approve Budget Digest grant contracts and further process a $40,000 courthouse improvement grant which needs a 20% match.
