EX-WVU FOOTBALL PLAYERS INDICTED FOR GLENVILLE ROBBERY

(03/11/2005)

Two former West Virginia University football players have been indicted on charges of robbing the Glenville Foodland grocery store.

A grand jury handed up the indictments this week charging Travis Garvin with breaking and entering, robbery, grand larceny and conspiracy.

Alvoid Mays is charged with grand larceny and conspiracy.

The charges stem from the October 15, 2004 armed robbery of the grocery.

The suspects crashed a car during a police pursuit on Route 5 toward Burnsville and then fled on foot before being captured.

Garvin was a wide receiver for the Mountaineers from 2002 to 2003.

Mays was a defensive back on the 1988 team that played for the national championship in the Fiesta Bowl, then played six seasons in the NFL with the Washington Redskins and the Pittsburgh Steelers.
