Two Calhoun County Title I teachers have been selected to present a workshop on Parent Involvement at the International Reading Association Conference in May.
Linda Edwards and Tammey Webb, provide Title I services to children at Arnoldsburg Elementary. They also provide regular workshops for parents of students at Arnoldsburg School.
The two ladies began working with Title I at Calhoun Middle School, where they developed the impetus for the need of involvement of parents from Mrs. Jane Lynch, the principal and now Federal Programs Director for Calhoun County Schools. They have continued that practice at Arnoldsburg Elementary.
Workshops presented at Arnoldsburg Elementary include: Help Me, Help You; How to Help Your Child Study; Parent/Student Make and Takes; and Reading Strategies for Parents.
They have worked in conjunction with the Calhoun Parent Resource Center and hosted Developing Good Behavior, Does Your Child Have ADHD? Let's Build a Reader, and Uncovering the Truth About Parenting.
Mrs. Edwards and Mrs. Webb have also presented workshops to other counties teachers, How to Establish an Effective Parent Involvement Program.
They will present this information at the International Reading Association Conference.
The International Reading Association is well known worldwide for their contributions to reading research and practice among professional educators.
