(03/03/2005)
A Glenville State College professor has been named 2004 Professor of the Year.

Wayne de Rosset, associate professor of English, received the honor from the Faculty Merit Foundation of West Virginia during a banquet at the Cultural Center in Charleston this week.

De Rosset has been on the faculty at Glenville since 1974. He recently was honored by his peers at Glenville State with the Award for Faculty Excellence.

"Professor de Rosset provides outstanding instruction and academic experiences to his students within the context of total academic integrity," Robert N. Freeman, president of Glenville State, said in a letter of recommendation for de Rosset. "Additionally, he brings literature alive for our students through 'whatever it takes to get and hold their interest.'"

The Faculty Merit Foundation of West Virginia each year honors an outstanding faculty member at a West Virginia college or university.

The winner receives a $10,000 cash prize, which is presented by the foundation with financial support from Columbia Gas Transmission.
