There will be an auction Saturday, March 5 starting at 6 P. M. at the Creston Community Building. Bobby Ray will bring a whole bunch of goodies including cheese, pepperoni and other yummies. Everyone is welcome and it will be a good time to talk about calling in big turkey gobblers, catching whopper fish, etc.

Rev. Juanita Lockhart filled her regular appointment at the Burning Springs M. E. church. Sierra Starcher provided special singing, as did Steve Lockhart as Juanita had some respiratory distress.

Those visiting Dorine Parsons included Mary Reno, Carl, Donna & Amy N. Ferrell.

Matthew Copen and G. J. Westfall were attending to business in Fairmont. Matthew was also consulting his physician.

Bessie Arthur was calling on Rev. & Mrs. S. E. Cooper, Jr.

Paul Lee who is a patient at the Minnie Hamilton Health Care center is not doing very well at all.

A large helicopter was in the Creston area on Sunday. The local area has alternated between snow (a few inches) and spring flowers, blue birds and spring. The full moon the other evening was a spectacular orange orb.

Phu Phu and Cosmo were visiting in Creston over the weekend as "their parents" were at the big "rasselin' tournament" down at Huntington.

Richard Mc Fall was calling on friends in the area on Saturday. He had been to the IOGA meeting in Charleston earlier in the week. It was learned there that Equitable plans to drill 35 wells on what is known at the Bruen land in Jackson & Roane Counties. In areas where the Rockefellers and others who "rule" do not want competition there have been impediments placed in the pipeline system even though they are required to operate as "common carriers".

The folks who gather from time to time down at the Mouth of the Elk River to enact legislation passed a law to add a surcharge to severance taxes to pay off the bills over at Workmen's Compensation so that Gaston Caperton and the other fata cat non-payers will not have to cough up what they owe and what is needed to keep the system solvent. They wanted to have the new tax to start coming in during January 2006 but they didn't know that payments for gas runs two months late.

A spokesman for BJ Hughes noted that there was a potential shortage of frac sand because the amount used in the oilfield (120 rail cars either per day or per week) was insignificant. Also the rail tariff would go up 20% in part because of the inablility of the railroads to obtain workmen.

Local folks thought that railroading was one of those prestige jobs that had lots of willing takers. Another oil field service company reported that they were having problems keeping employees and were going to have to modify their operations so that they could operate with fewer employees. One of the main wheels of AccuWeather, likely the best on line weather forecasting outfit, was asked about glacial retreats and "global warming" at the IOGA (W. Va. Independent Oil & Gas Assoc) meeting. While being civil it was clear that he had little use for Albert Gore Jr. and others who use junk science to "prove whatever point was convenient".

The speaker asked rhetorically, "How did they place those infra red sensors for the 1903 readings of the atmosphere at the poles?" He pointed out that weather follows cycles and he explained why it was warmer than usual this winter. He also noted that there have been several ice ages and future ice ages are quite possible. Some time back an alarmist noted temperatures had not been so high since 1500 A. D. No doubt those ox carts used during the decline of the dark ages caused warming then. Moveable type and sailing ships also added to the problem.

Little Richard who used to be with the (state) Supremes is mad that his buddy McGraw got beat and now he is going to sue someone about it. Back when he wore a big black robe he sued an airline company who did not realize he was part of the rich power elite and did not give him proper deference when he and his family were going on a foreign vacation.

It was reported that the school system said they could not alert parents when sexual predators were working in the school system because the educrats might get sued by the perverts who are obviously protected by lily livered judges.

One could not come up with a better reason for judicial reform if one stayed up all night thinking. Of course the educrats made it clear that the children are the least of their concern too. Tar and feathers also remain available in today's market place as do other, non p. c., means of dealing with problems and problem people.

It was reported that certain of the health department staff take personal offense when people disagree with them and then they use their power to punish "those who would dare stray from the official party line". Comrade Putin would be proud of such "dedicated" bureaucrats. Perhaps a group of cigar affectionatos should pay the department a visit.

The price of local crude rose to $48.25/bbl while propane fetched 75 cents/gallon with butane just under $1 and natural gasoline (mountain high test) fetching $1.12/gallon.

Some folks stayed up to watch the movie harlots and the awards. John Wayne, Roy Rogers, Tom Mix, Cecil B. deMillions, Norma Jean Baker and Heddy Schwartz are all now long gone so there isn't really much new of any consequence as The Passion was not deemed appropriate by the "beautiful people".

There was a wreck down at the old Siebert place. Nearby residents do not know the details. Also someone with straight tread tires was driving around on the Heartwood Fund property near the head of Katy's Run. They came very close to having to call for assistance to get extricated.
