With Spring just three weeks away, officially beginning on March 20, the area is getting a blast of winter.
Tuesday's forcast for the immediate region looks like soggy, heavy snow, mixed slush and rain.
Much of the state could get up to six inches of snow through Wednesday night, according to the National Weather Service.
"Expect wraparound snow showers through Wednesday night," says NSW, noting there will be more snow, of course, in the mountains.
Twenty of the state's 55 county school systems, from the Eastern Panhandle through the southern mountains were closed today. Several other counties had delays.
Tuesday, accumulations predicted from one to three inches.
Snowfall totals are predicted to reach nine inches in the south and 10 inches in Jefferson and Berkeley counties.
There is a Snow Advisory in effect until 4 PM Tuesday.
