RECORD LOW IN UNEMPLOYMENT IN WV

(02/26/2005)
West Virginia's unemployment reached a record low in January, shattering all records for the month.

The Bureau of Employment Programs said there was an increase of nearly one percentage point, but the 5.8 percent figure was still an all-time low.

The job losses occurred in the goods-producing and service sectors.

The unemployment picture in the state has been improving over the last year, with some counties having less than three-percent unemployment.
