If you are raising grandchildren or nieces and nephews for others, you're
not alone.
The census estimates that there are approximately 112 grandparent
families raising grandchildren in Calhoun County. This number does not
include families raising nieces and nephews for others.
Sandy Osborne, Calhoun County Family Resource Network coordinator, reviews
books like "Ticklebelly Hill," a grandmother's narrative of her
experiences raising three grandchildren, and "Grandparents as Parents - A
Survival Guide for Raising a Second Family."
These resources are part of a
state wide program to provide support to relatives raising children for
others.
