The season came to an end Monday night as the Calhoun Middle School girls
team fell to top-ranked Clay Middle School, 44-4, in the first round of the
Central West Virginia Athletic Conference.
The game was never close as Clay started its second unit and jumped to a 9-0
first quarter advantage. When the Mustangs ran their big and experienced
first unit into the game in the second quarter it was all over. The Mustangs
' first until rolled to a 20-0 advantage in the quarter and a 29-0 halftime
lead.
Calhoun battled back slightly in the third quarter allowing Clay only a 4-2
advantage making the score 33-2 heading into the final period.
Kayla Roberts and Danielle Little led Calhoun with two points apiece.
With the loss Calhoun dropped to 0-15 on the season while Clay advanced to
15-1 and will play the winner of the Spencer-Walton game Friday at Richwood.
