Before the Calhoun Middle School girls team played Geary Thursday night
Danielle Little went to Red Devils coach Scott Montgomery and said they were
going to win.
"I told her to show me," Montgomery said. "She did."
And she did it in a big way scoring 18 points in the CMS B team's 20-13
victory over Geary.
Little had a three-point goal, a free throw and seven baskets as she
dominated the court. Calhoun's other points came on a bucket by Amara Yoak,
who played only half the B game since she was penciled into the starting
point guard spot in the A game.
The Red Devils did not do as well in the A game, falling to Geary 29-11.
Calhoun kept the game close until halftime only to have Geary break it open
in the third quarter.
Kayla Roberts led Calhoun with six points while Heaven Cain added three and
Kristin Ballengee two.
Calhoun returns to action Tuesday night at home against Ritchie before
closing its season at home against Braxton on Wednesday.
The Red Devils will then compete in the CWVAC tournament at Richwood.
Calhoun is fourth-seeded in the southern division and will play Clay.
