Longtime Spencer mayor Terry Williams will have an opponent in Spencer's municipal election.
Joellen Greenlee, Vice-President of Greenlee Properties, Inc. announced today that she has filed as a candidate for Mayor of the city of Spencer.
Joellen was born and raised in Roane County and has been a business owner in the town of Spencer for many years, according to a press release.
"I believe it is time for a change," said Greenlee. "And I believe I am the person to help make that change. I am looking forward to having a chance to serve the people of this great city."
Joellen was raised in Reedy and graduated from Spencer High School with the class of 1981. After graduation, she lived in Alabama, California and Washington state with her husband, Mike Greenlee, who was serving in the US Coast Guard.
After discharge, Mike and Joellen returned to the area to open a business and raise their family. Joellen was owner/operator of My Place Hair Design for 12 years and currently is Vice President and Associate Broker of Greenlee Properties, Inc. and is involved in the daily operation of the business.
Joellen's background in real estate and finance gives her an insight into the economic needs of this community and she would like to put her experience to work for the economic growth of this city and surrounding area, according to the press release.
