Calhoun rolled up 198 points and crowned seven champions to easily win the
weather-depleted Calhoun Invitational Tournament Saturday.
The Red Devils had champions at 112 (Eddie Burrows), 119 (Bryan Gungle), 125
(Justin Ramsey), 130 (Jaron Sampson), 135 (Andrew Cummings), 152 (Justin
Price), and 170 (Paul Goodrich).
The Red Devils also had a second from Justin Whipkey (275) and thirds from
Seth Jarvis (103), Dustyn Nichols (160) and Zack Yeager (189).
The Red Devils also had a second place finish by Tyler Bain (119) and a
fourth by Brannon Sampson (125).
Bain and Sampson were wrestling as part of
Calhoun's B Team and their scoring did not count toward the 198 total.
The tournament was originally scheduled to have 10 teams but three - Wirt,
Ritchie and Sissonville - were kept away by inclement weather that blasted
the state.
Clay took second.
Calhoun's win avenged last season when the Red Devils were knocked off by
Braxton County by a point and a half.
Calhoun returns to action in the Williamstown Rumble next Saturday.
