MAN STABS, DISEMBOWELS DOG - A St. Albans man has been charged with animal cruelty after he allegedly stabbed a dog, removing its heart and disemboweling it.
The Kanawha County Magistrate Court said 26-year-old Robert Neil Jones allegedly killed his girlfriend's dog this week at his apartment. Authorities said it was an act of retribution against the woman. Jones allegedly left a written message for his girlfriend on her vehicle about the dog's death.
Jones is being held at the South Central Regional Jail on $20,000 bond. He could face up to three years in prison and a five-thousand dollar fine if convicted.
SOLDIERS IN ROAD RAGE SHOOTING - A road rage shooting that started on I-64 when the participants entered Kentucky ended on the interstate in Clark County. A Marine is facing charges and another was injured in the apparent road-rage shooting.
Abraham Crepe, who is based at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, has been charged with assault and wanton endangerment after allegedly shooting at another vehicle traveling on I-64
Crepe was traveling with his wife and two stepchildren when his vehicle met up with another one carrying Wesley Wilkinson and Michael Young, both military police based at Quantico, Virginia.
The occupants of the two cars drove side by side for about 100 miles, exchanging insults and gestures at high speeds.
Clark County Sheriff Ray Caudal says when the vehicles reached Clark County, Crepe pulled out a MAC-90 assault rifle and allegedly shot three or four rounds, shattering a window and flattening a tire.
One bullet hit Wilkinson, who was treated at a local hospital and released.
MANHUNT AFTER MAN SHOOTS WIFE - A manhunt is under way for a man suspected in the shooting death of his wife at their Wayne County home.
State Police say the suspect is 37-year-old Richard Pennington of Huntington. The victim is 37-year-old Andrea Pennington.
Pennington is described as a white male, about five-feet-nine, 170 pounds, with reddish-brown hair, a stocky build and stitches on his right wrist. A warrant has been issued for his arrest.
Because school officials feared the suspect might try to pick up his two children at school, they placed Spring Valley High School and Creed Kenya Middle School on lock down.
CHARLESTON'S KNIFE & GUN AREA, BUS DRIVER BEATEN - Charleston's West side had 11 murders and hundreds of knifing and shootings last year. The Charleston Police Department is assigning about ten new officers to the area.
Meanwhile, a Kanawha County bus driver is thanking a Samaritan who saved his life.
Two men attacked KRT bus driver Ron Jarrell Tuesday night on Charleston's West Side.
The two men became loud and unruly on Jarrell's bus. He asked them to quiet down. One of the men struck Jarrell in the back of the head and then overpowered him, pulling him from the bus, kicking and hitting him.
It was then a passenger came to his aid.
The whole thing was caught on a video camera and police are looking for the suspects.
Jarrell said he believed the suspects were on drugs.
