Several state colleges have been audited regarding their food, and some have safety violations including bacteria-tainted ice cream.
Glenville State College and West Virginia State University didn't have operating permits for their ice cream machines, and samples from both violated state health standards for coliform bacteria counts.
The audit discovered problems including mixing raw and cooked meats in a meat locker.
Legislative Auditor Aaron Allred recommended that the schools should consider having the state Department of Agriculture help them monitor food quality and safety.
