WEST FORK MOUNTAINEERS

QUILT WINNER - As a fall fund raiser the West Fork Mountaineers sold chances on a quilt. Chances were sold at the Molasses Festival and Octoberfest. The winning ticket was drawn at the regular October meeting. Loris Jarvis of Minnora was the winner. President Ryan Ellison sold the winning ticket and delivered the quilt to Loris.

For a fun and relaxing evening the Mountaineers went roller skating at Spencer on Nov. 6. With lots of delicious pizza from Pizza Hut. Goody bags were donated by: Calhoun County Bank Arnoldsburg Branch, Tim Moore State Farm Agent, WVU Extension office and Twin Drilling. Thanks to all of those who helped to make it a success.

As a special project we got together and made candles and birdhouses. You can look forward to these exciting crafts being for sale at the Minnora Flea Market starting the middle of January.

Now that our leaders have welcomed home their third child on Dec. 30th (Jaron Duane weighing 8lbs. 8ozs., 21 inches long) you can look forward to the West Fork Mountaineers doing many more new and exciting community projects and fund raisers.

4-H CLUB MAKES APPLE BUTTER - Submitted by Kenzie Laughlin

The West Fork Mountaineers recently gathered to make apple butter the old fashioned way!

Under a gray sky with a light mist falling, each 4-H member took turns stirring the apple butter in an old fashioned iron kettle.

Members and parents washed and sterilized jars while others peeled and cut up apples. It was a good time had by all.

You may purchase apple butter by contacting any of the West Fork Mountaineers members. All proceeds from the sale, will go to help send members to 4-H Camp.

We appreciate everyone involved in the making of the apple butter, and everyone making a purchase.
