Calhoun teenager Melissa Oshoway continues her fight for life at St. Marys Hospital in Huntington.
A family spokesperson reported last night that Missy has stabilized after a difficult day Monday, but she is far from being out of the woods.
"She is holding her own," heavily sedated to "help the brain heal."
Following surgery Monday to relieve pressure around her brain, the pressure is "about 8 and excellent." Her blood pressure is good.
The young woman was injured last Friday in a car accident at Pt. Pleasant, suffering head trauma.
"Although things are going better, we need to continue to pray non-ceasing for her recovery," said the spokesperson. "Sue and John Oshoway never fail to thank everyone for their support and concern, most of all for the prayers for Missy."
People have been on bended knee around the country asking God to sustain her life:
ON BENDED KNEE
A PRAYER - "I just wanted Sue and John to know we are praying for Missy. I went through something similar in 1997 with my daughter, Jenny Marie Jones. She has a brain tumor and due to fluid and pressure on her brain we were told she would not live through the night."
"My ex-husband, Henry (Bucky) Jones told the doctors that Jenny was not in their hands but in God's. Jenny was on the venilator also."
"Well, God does indeed hear our prayers when we call on Him. We had people all over the country praying that Jenny would survive. Praise the Lord He heard and answered because Jenny is alive today."
"God is so powerful and He tells us that when we ask Him in faith believing that He will do what we are asking if our faith is no larger than a mustard seed. God is the answer to Missy's recovery.
This is my prayer for Missy: "Dear God and Heavenly Father: As I come to you this morning I bring Missy Oshoway before you asking that You put a healing hand upon her. Touch the body of Missy right now dear Lord and heal the brain from the trauma it received in the accident.
Make her body strong and bring her back totally healed. I ask that you give Sue and John the strength they need at this time. I thank you that this is a family that knows you as their personal Saviour.
I ask you dear Lord that every child of God who knows about Missy start praying for her right now. Thank you for all your goodness and mercy you show us each day of our lives. I ask all these things in faith believing you will heal Missy.
In Jesus name I pray.
Amen - Carl and Pam (Webb) Kight
FROM A FRIEND
Though trouble lies upon your door,
The Lord knows just what's in store,
Prayers gone up and tears gone down,
Not left to hold your ground.
Yet here you are,
Holding on,
To the pain that's left
From this all.
Miracles can happen,
You know its true.
God has a plan to help you, too!
- Whitney Johnson
I have known Melissa for a long time. She's a strong girl and only God in
Heaven knows what is in store for her. I trust that God has a plan for why
this happened, and to the degree of the injuries. Prayers are the best thing
anything one can do. Bless you John and Sue, no one knows what you feel
inside. Just keep holding on everything will work itself out.
Sincerely,
Whitney Johnson
