A Wheeling native has joined the list of those killed in the increasingly violent Iraqi war.
Cpl. Cory Michael Hewitt, 26, a member of the U.S. Army's Fighting 705th Ordinance Co., was among 14 U.S. service-members killed in Tuesday's blast in Mosul, Iraq.
Four American civilians, three Iraqi national guard members, and one "unidentified non-U.S. person" were also killed.
"He was a good American. He liked what he did," Hewitt's grandmother, said Thursday.
Funeral arrangements are being planned in Wheeling.
