DEATH OR DOWN AT THE MOUTH OF THE ELK - Charleston police have reportedly arrested a West Side man in connection with a shooting death. Brandon Lee Saunders, 19, shot 44-year-old Jeffery Atkins in the parking lot of Littlepage Terrace.
Police said the shooter was upset over the location of his drugs.
After being shot, Atkins make it to his vehicle and drove a few blocks down Washington Street West before crashing his auto. He died shortly.
Saunders was handy using weapons, having been charged with malicious wounding in connection with another shooting at Littlepage Terrace this past July.
Another Charleston man was shot in the back this week while crossing the street between the Mariott Hotel and the Charleston Towne Center, the downtown area was filled with Christmas shoppers.
The victim managed to stumble in the mall and request that 911 be called.
TWO DEAD, ONE INJURED IN MORGANTOWN INCIDENT - Jonathan W. Hyland, 32, of Anaheim, Calif., killed himself Tuesday in a sport utility vehicle over the PA line from Morgantown.
Hyland allegedly shot his wife, Valerie L. Reed and Derek A. Jackson, both of Morgantown, W.Va., in Reed's car near West Virginia University's administrative building and the Radisson Hotel complex along the Mon River.
Reed remains in critical condition with a gunshot wound to her head and Jackson was treated for a gunshot wound to the back and was released.
A child in Reed's car was not injured in the shooting.
Pennsylvania State Police stopped Hyland's vehicle about 20 minutes after the shooting and
Hyland shot himself before police could approach the vehicle.
HUNTER DIES AFTER MUZZLELOADER DISCHARGES - A Princeton man is dead after a muzzleloader rifle fell off his 4-wheeler and shot him in the stomach.
Kevin Bailey, 41, was not found for two days because of a snowfall.
Bailey was apparently riding his four-wheeler with his muzzleloader loaded and the firing cap on.
$12 PIZZA ROBBERY GETS PIZZA DELIVERY MAN SHOT - A 26-year-old Charleston woman has been sentenced to three years and one month in federal prison for her role the robbery and shooting of a Charleston pizza delivery driver.
Misty D. Jenkins and four men lured pizza delivery man Allen Townsend into a robbery in downtown Charleston by ordering pizza, soda and chicken wings.
The group of people took the food and the $12 the man was carrying.
One of Jenkins' co-defendants, 20-year-old Antoine D. Miller of Charleston, hit Townsend in the face. Then, 25-year-old Darius C. Carlisle of Charleston shot Townsend in the back.
Since being shot, Townsend has been unable to work and has had three surgeries related to his gunshot wounds.
