Bertha M. Abbott, 85, of Amma, West Virginia, died Sunday, December 19, 2004, in the CAMC-Memorial Hospital, Charleston.
She was born September 19, 1919, at Newton, a daughter of the late Lewis H. and Bessie Smith Moore. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hollie Abbott; two brothers, Herbert and Richard Moore; three sisters, Ruby Cobb, Evelyn Boring and Lucy Ennis.
Mrs. Abbott was the retired co-owner and operator of Abbott's General Store, Clio. She was a member of the Amma Senior Citizens, Amma and the Newton Baptist Church, Newton. She was a life long resident of Roane County.
Survivors include four daughters, Martha Holland of Ripley, Kathleen King of Pinch, Ina Jean Smith of Newton and Loretta Boyer of Warren, OH; two sons, Kenneth Abbott and Rodney Abbott both of Amma; one brother, Clyde Moore of Looneyville; 15 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, December 22 at 1:00 p.m. in the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with the Rev. J. Herbert Smith officiating. Burial will be in the Payne Cemetery, Clio.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday.
