Most Calhoun hunter's have filled their freezers with deer meat.
But in case they haven't, there will be one more chance after Christmas.
Hunters can take their children into the woods for a special after-Christmas doe hunt.
The first two days of the five-day season, which starts December 27th and ends December 31st, is reserved for adults with physical handicaps and children ages eight to 14. Children must be accompanied by a licensed adult who cannot carry a firearm or a bow and must remain near enough to render advice and assistance.
Beside private land, 28 public wildlife management areas will be open during the youth/handicap hunt.
The final three days of the week will be open to all hunters who have yet to fill antlerless-deer tags. All hunting must take place on private lands.
Fifty-one of the state's 55 counties will be open to hunters during the five-day season. Logan, McDowell, Mingo and Wyoming counties are the exception.
Hunters killed 800 deer during the two-day youth/handicap last year and about 2,500 during the three-day extended antlerless-deer days.
