Authorities are investigating a late night church fire near Elizabeth that burned the structure to the ground.
Firefighters from the Elizabeth-Wirt Volunteer Fire Department were called to Bethel Church just after 10 p.m. Wednesday night.
The church, which was built in the late 1800s, is located on Elizabeth Hill, now accessed on the old road.
Assistant State Fire Marshal Brad Hartley says the fire is suspicious, saying he believes it was intentionally set.
The incident is under investigation.
