The Hillbilly Stompers Clogging Team traveled to
Morgantown last Saturday to participate
in the Mountaineer Week Clogging Competition. The

brought home several awards for their dancing
techniques and enthusiasm in their performance.
First

"Cotton-Eyed Joe," which was choreographed by team
director, Kim Miller.
First place was also awarded to
the trio consisting of Samantha Moss, Myriah Baird and
Anna Lowry, for their rendition of "Turn It Loose."
Second place was awarded to Myriah Baird, Samantha
Moss, Kim Miller, Jessica Cowger, Julie Rollyson and
Samantha Conrad for their performance of "She's Got It
All."
Amy Shamblin, Jeff Duffield, Marc Jones, Jeff
Duffield, Melinda Dobbins and Amber Conrad were
awarded third place for their dancing skills in
"Hillbilly Rock."
The competition took place at West Virginia
University as a part of Mountaineer Week. The week
long celebration is held in honor of Appalachian
Heritage. Teams from West Virginia and surrounding
states are invited to attend the competition.
The Hillbilly Stompers team was organized
approximately two years ago. With experience ranging
from less than a year to 17 years, the team is fun
loving and enjoys dancing.
The members originally were
from Braxton County but have now expanded to include
Nicholas, Gilmer, Clay and Calhoun. It's members also
include three younger members that were unable to
attend the competition but are crowd pleasers, just
the same. They are Katlyn Moss, Brandy Dobbins and
Cassi Dobbins.
