It's deer huntin' time come Monday morning with the opening of West Virginia's official gun season.
Calhoun's population will almost double the next few days as out-of-state hunters will descend to the backwoods, most of them in search of a big buck deer.
Despite reports of numerous deer diseases, the WVDNR is predicting a good buck kill.
The firearms season will be open through December 1.
Calhoun's deer kill was up in 2006 at 1,054, compared to 859 (2005); 1,125 (2004); 1,212 (2003); 1,611 (2001).
