Calhoun student Briana Blankenship (pictured left)will be competing this Sunday for a chance to perform with the Marshall University Orchestra. Briana will be auditioning at the Jomie Jazz Center on the campus of Marshall University and will play from memory the "Andante" movement from a Haydn concerto.
Briana could have the opportunity to perform as a soloist with the University Orchestra during two concerts in mid-March of 2005, and receive a $150 monetary award.
The competition is sponsored by the Women's Club of Huntington in cooperation with Cabell County Schools and Marshall University. The competiton is open to all junior high and high school students in the state as well as the Tri-State area including Ohio and Kentucky.
