Eva Jean Sams, 76, went home to be with the Lord on November 1, 2004 after a long illness. She passed away at her home in Big Springs, West Virginia, surrounded by her family.
She was born at Freed, a daughter of the late B.F. and Virgie Richards Frederick. She was a member of Chestnut Grove Independent Baptist Church and had been a foster mother and emergency shelter care provider to over 200 children.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Rev. Clifton Sams; two sons, Stephen and his wife Diane Sams and James and his wife Peggy Sams all of Big Springs; three daughters, Nancy Sams of Kennewick, WA, Anita Parsons and her husband Richard of Sand Ridge, and Susan Rush and her husband Doug of Big Springs; six grandchildren, Christy Justice, John Sams, Dallas Sams, Joseph Sams, Samantha Parsons, and Dylan Rush; two great grandchildren, Hailey and Easton Sams. Also surviving are two sisters, Edna Jarvis and Lillian Frederick and four brothers, Denzil, George, Roger and Dallas Frederick.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a nephew, Darren Frederick.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday, November 5 at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg, WV. Rev. Kenneth Parsons will officiate. Interment will be in the Mt. Zion Church Cemetery on Leading Creek Road.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday evening. |
