Most Calhoun folks are in bed by 11 p.m., but Sunday night a few saw a brilliant sight in the night sky.
So brilliant it lit up the landscape for a few seconds - light as day.
It was a large meteor, some astronomers say the size of a piece of furniture, streaking across the sky at 11:15 p.m.
The meteor had a huge fire ball, shooting Eastward across the sky.
While meteors are common in our atmosphere, larger ones like Sunday night's are harder to come by.
Large meteors as bright as the one Sunday strike the earth about six times a year, often unnoticed during daylight hours.
Sunday night's meteor was awesome.
